What's a good product that keeps nails from chipping?

I work in a restaurant, and what really breaks my nails is the steel wool I use when I scrub dishes sometimes, among other things.

I keep them filed and buffed and well kept, so it makes me sad when they chip. I know you can get something done to them at a salon to keep them from chipping, but I'd rather not have anything stuck onto them.

Anyway, if you know of any nail strengthener or tricks to keep them more or less chip-free, I'd appreciate it. Thanks! What's a good product that keeps nails from chipping?
I use Sally Hansen Diamond Strength

Instant Nail Hardener. Works pretty well for me.

Good luck :]What's a good product that keeps nails from chipping?
i used Nutra Nail and it worked great for me. The key is to work with your nails every day. Some times filing the nail can cause them to chip and break. If you file your nails a lot it can cause them to be thin in places which can can cause chipping and breaking. Sally Hansen also has a lot of good products. Right now I am using her Diamond Collection. It is more expensive than the Nutra Nail. Try applying a fresh coat at least every other day and keep your cuticles pushed back. I have found it I don't keep my nails polished, they will break. GOOD LUCK.

  • What are products and tips for growing long, healthy nails?

Milk for calcium and lots of jello(both good for strong hair and nails). I'd avoid painting your nails with anything but special nail growth products unless you have a problem biting them and in that case, painting them may help you avoid doing that because of the taste of nailpolish. What are products and tips for growing long, healthy nails?
You may also opt for garlic. cut garlic in half then rub it in your nails. Its effective after few times of doing it. Makes you nail strongWhat are products and tips for growing long, healthy nails?
I say just drink milk. I have super long nails. Try soaking them in water a whole lot because they grow faster the longer they are in water. Be carful not to break them after theyve been in water because they soften for a bit but harden later. I wouldnt use those nailpolish hardening stuff because your nails need oxygen and if you wear those nailpolish things they start to brittle and break.
drink milk, if u hav weak nail n try that nail polish that strengthens ur nails, or if u bite ur nail try nail polish. but 4 stronger nails id go with drink milk 4 calcium
I eat jelly and paint my nails with nail hardening when i want to grow my fingernails and it does work you just have to file them everyday and retouch the nail polish as well as eating jelly!!

I bite my nails , do you know any products like sprays to stop me from biting! or have any tips!?

i bite my nails any want to stop but cant! i always get them long and them bite them! i dont bite them till they bleed! EWWW!! DONT GIVE ANY SMART @SS ANSWERS! like try stop biting them! best answer gets 10 points and will be on my contacts! give links !

love ya %26lt;33I bite my nails , do you know any products like sprays to stop me from biting! or have any tips!?
I bite my nails, too. Email me at strawberi_cheezcake101@yahoo.com to let me know how you stopped. I've bitten my nails since I was in kindergarten, and am in seventh grade now. Since you made me one of your contacts, you are probably surprised at my age. But don't be too surprised; on planes, when I sit with my brother, they call him my son! Anyways, even though the bad-tasting pharmacy stuff works for a while, you get used to the taste. I tried will power, and that doesn't work either. I usually bite my nails during class and when I watch TV, so now I sit on my hands. I thought it was working, but I just bit them today, for the first time in 2 weeks! Chewing gum helps, too, but not enough. Try this link, I don't know if it works, but am trying it...

Sorry, I know this doesn't really answer your question.I bite my nails , do you know any products like sprays to stop me from biting! or have any tips!?
Try getting fake nails. That would help. It would break you of the cycle. Or try dipping them in nail poish remover. Or try hypnosis. I know its far fetched but it might work.
paint them a really beautiful colour, hopefully you'll think they look so pretty that you won't want to bite them

i used to bite mine but really tried hard to stop and when they started to grow and had a nice white bit at the top i saw how great they looked and that in itself cured me from the biting, why have grotty bitten nails when with a bit of will power and concentration you can have pretty painted nails

    good luck xx
I too am a nail biter, but not since I been to the nail salon and have them put on the acrylic nails.
why don't you chew on a pice of gum .It worked for me!
i some times do that !! i find if you just paint them with any nail varnish stops me from biting them because i dont want to mess up the varnish, u can but products which tast bitter but i dont think they really work.

    hope this helps!

    bye xx
They sell liquids to dip them in that taste really bad so that when you to bite them the taste makes you stop
I bit my nails alot, and I got fake nails and stoped my habit.. Once I went to chew, I would feel the fake nail and go ugggg.

If that is not a good option for you get some product that you paint on called no bite.

thats a link to one sold at sallys beauty supply store to give you an idea. I never used it, but I know people who have had it work great with.

Or you can always dip your fingers in tabasco (lol jk)
Girl, You have the same exact problem that I have. But I am slowing down on biting them because I found a cure for me. Alls I do is put nail polish on my fingers. IT HELPS!!! i just hate the smell, and taste of nail polish. But if you really feel the need to bite your nails just pick the nail polish of instead of biting your nails. It will give your hands something to do.
i don't know how hard core u are about bite your nails but if u are anything like me then what those other have suggested will not work , i have tried fake nails bite them off, paint my real ones i just scrape the paint off with my teeth then continue biting and ihave put nasty tasting stuff on them whihc is suppose to stop you from biting but i would just scrape that off as well til the taste was gone , so i know u say no answers like just stop but the best advice to say is will power which has not worked for me yet lol. i have tried keeping somethng like a pen or gum anything in my mouth to occupy my time which has had the most affect but still i bite, i know this is not what u want as an answers but just telling you my experience
Do you paint your nails? If not, you should start. Then maybe you won't bite them 'cause you'll be messing up the paint job as well %26amp; personally I like mine to last as long as possible. If that doesn't work for you, you could try putting something bitter on your fingers like quinine, mechurichrome (will stain) or even plain old nail polish remover. The taste should deter you from putting your fingers anywhere near your mouth.

Try a hardner nail polish, like sally hansen. I've heard it works, but have never used it myself. Also, keeping yourself hydrated and using a cream on your nails could help. I find even just plain old clear nail polish helps to keep me from picking at them when mine split, and they used to...a lot. Using older nail polish aggravates it I find.

Something I've actually done is take an unused tea bag, opened it, and cut the cloth into nail shaped pieces, then slick on one coat of clear, place the cloth on, let dry and put on one or two more coats of clear. It worked, kept my nails from breaking.

Has anyone had a sure cure for a fungal nail infection, and what was the product?

There are 2 ways to treat these, topical with Loceryl laquer, this takes at least 3 months to treat finger nails and at least 6 to treat toe nails as they grow so slowly.

Oral antifungals such as Lamasil are, it must be admitted slightly quicker, but tend to be more toxic.Has anyone had a sure cure for a fungal nail infection, and what was the product?
This will sound gross and I am sorry but if its your feet, pee on them in the shower. The acid in your urine will kill the bacteria.

Also I have a friend who had it bad but started soaking his feet in Apple Cider Vinegar for thirty minutes a day diluted with water-it smells bad but it kills the bacteria and it will make your feet not stink-this also works for hands.Has anyone had a sure cure for a fungal nail infection, and what was the product?
I asked my Doctor the same question, and he told me that the medications that they make for this are highly toxic, and he wouldn't prescribe them to me. I have found a home remedy, though, that seems to work well, all you need is Vick's vapor rub. Just apply this on the affected nail twice a day. I am not 100% sure that this will kill the fungus, but it gets rid of the yellow!
Radio 4 had a program on this topic a while ago and it was suggested by a doctor that using a antibacterial washing up liquid as a foot wash twice a day is a cheap easy way to cure and prevent fungal/bacterial infections - i haven't tried it so can't comment
there is a product called curanail which you paint on the nail - but you have to use it daily for about 6 months and costs about 拢20

The doctor can also presecribe something but I cannot remember what it is called.
You can get tablets on prescription from your doctor!
Lamisil tablets, only availalbe on prescription but take about 6 months to work. only sure cure.
I used a laquer that contains Amorolfine in it but it took about a year to completely clear
The best way I found was to go to the doctor and get a course of tablets for it.

I'm not sure of the name, but OPI makes a nail hardener that works the best!
I use Sally Hansen Maximum Growth Plus Nourishing Nail Color. If your nails were as awful as mine were before I used this product I would choose the clear color. It was $4.29 at Stop %26amp; Shop and Wal-Mart. It contains vitamins A, C, E, and soy protein.
The problem with your nails is likely a nutrition problem. You can find a vitamin supplement specifically for hair and nails at ';the World's Largest Retailer'; or any pharmacy. Soaking them, painting them, buffing them won't help the strength - only good nutrition will do this from the inside out.
Pre natal vitamins really work and use a product like OPI nail Envy or Sally Hanson hard as nails everyday so they don't break
I think taking vitamin E can help your nails and hair grow.
    hard as nails

    keep them polished too
Beauty Secrets Nail Hardener %26amp; Thickener which can be found at any sally's beauty supply store
take prenatal vitamins and use a nail strengthener everyday!
Put base coat and top coat on your nails when you paint them. Sally Hasnen has a HUGE range of products called ';Hard as Nails'; which actually have a guarantee they will make your nails stronger.

If you don't paint your fingernails, just use that same clear basecoat. It will keep them looking healthy and shiny as well as strong :)

My finger nails keep splitting, I have tried lots of products on .the market without result. Any help please?

I know that water is causing my finger nails to split and peel, because I had a nasty accident and I couldn't do any housework, so for 4 months I had beautiful nails. As soon as I started some work in the kitchen my nails started to peel again. I do use gloves when doing the dishes. Any suggestions please? My finger nails keep splitting, I have tried lots of products on .the market without result. Any help please?
If you use gloves then maybe it's not the water cuz your hands haven't been in the water to do dishes. Your nails might have been long because you were on medication due to your accident too. Which medication worked? Ask your doctor. Low thyroid levels cause splitting of the nails as well.....a simple blood test. Ask the doc and good luckMy finger nails keep splitting, I have tried lots of products on .the market without result. Any help please?
It's all about your diet, also if your using illegal drugs it will really hurt you. I worked in detriot for 6 weeks and my nails have never been stronger, maybe move to there.
    have lots of calcium.

I have also heard that soaking your nails in milk helps, but I think this is an old wives' tale
try eating and drinking milk cheese and yogourt (sp )

the calsium will help on only your nails but you skin ,hair and teeth it will take time but those will work best if you have a problem with milk try calsium tablets but consult your doc first

where rubber gloves when doing house work and try geting a manicure as well they can realy help
    Definitely get a dishwasher!!

The Spanish rub garlic and olive oil into the cuticles. I'd certainly try the olive oil, but not the garlic!! (I'd end up sucking my fingers all day)!

Good nutrition is essential too, or a multivitamin to boost you up.

There are nail formula supplements out there too, but I think it's more important to eat well.

Keep your nails shorter too, then you won't be disappointed when they split and break.
    Sounds like you have Onychoschizia

The best treatment is to avoid repeated wetting and drying of the nails. Try to wear cotton lined rubber gloves when performing household chores that involve getting the hands wet.

Rub lotions containing alpha-hydroxy acids such as Neostrata or lanolin containing lotions such as Elon into the nails both before and after getting the hands wet.

Watch people who have beautiful nails. Notice how they use their hands or finger pads to do simple chores rather than use their nails. Never dial a phone with the nail tips; use a pencil. Nails should never be used as tools. Get in the habit of using your fingers as if they have wet polish on them.

If you can鈥檛 avoid trauma to the nail tips, keep the nails cut short.

Always wear gloves during cold weather and when you do chores which may traumatize the nail tips.

Never peel or scrape off nail polish.

Shape and file the nails with a very fine file and round the tips in a gentle curve. Daily filing of snags or irregularities helps to prevent further breakage or splitting. Never use metal instruments on the nail surface to push back the cuticle because this scrapes away the microscopic protective cells of the nail surface.

When (and if) the nails are ';buffed,'; do this in the same direction as the nail grows and not in a ';back and forth'; motion because this can cause nail splitting.

Nail polish can protect the nail surface. The almost daily application of a ';top coat'; will keep the nail tips protected. Nail polishes with nylon fibers in them may add strength and protection to fragile nails. Use nail polish remover as infrequently as possible because it dries out the nails.

One study has shown that biotin (a vitamin) 2.5 mg a day taken by mouth is beneficial. Do not do this if you are pregnant.

Some patients are convinced that one pack of Knox Gelatin mixed with orange juice and taken by mouth each day will restore nails to a youthful state. There is no scientific data that supports the use of unflavored gelatin to strengthen nails.

Taking colloidal minerals and a multivitamin each day has been shown to increase the speed of nail growth which in turn leads to healthier nails.
Try to eat healty food: peanuts, vegetables and fruits and don麓t forget to add some vegetable oil in your diet. Remember to eat calsiumtablettes. Use some strengtening naillack, handlotion, massage oil and protecting base for nails like Trind - in these products i麓m sure that you麓ll get your beaufiful nails back.
Eat a cube of jelly every day. Make sure you have enough calcium in your diet, rub any edible oil into your fingernails before you begin to prepare food %26amp; at night moiturise your hands %26amp; nails %26amp; wear cotton gloves to bed.
dont worry about the products to use on them, feed your body proper food!!! Like milk for calcium which is why they are peeling %26amp; splitting. I suggest you buy health tabs ABC vitamins plus some zinc as this is what you are lacking to stop that. Ohterwise just eat the right foods which supply these elements.
Sounds like a dietary problem to me. Too much of this and not enough of that.

The healthiest diet is vegetarian, with lots of fruit, some green leaved vegetables, nuts and seeds. If you have a juicer, drink lots of freshly made fruit and vegetable juice, like carrot and apple is good.

Avoid plastic foods, like frozen stuff and canned stuff. Avoid preservatives, MSG, aspartame, and all sodas. Eat as natural as possible.
My nails kept splitting and breaking easily so i started to take multivitamin every day, so that i would be getting everything my body needs....and my nails are really strong and long now, they hardly break or split.....i recommend Sanatogen Gold Tablets
Get your hubby to do the dishes.
EveK is right. Calcium Plus Zinc is what your body is lacking. Go to Vitamin World and get you some good Multi's or a Cal-Mag-Zinc. Also, massage your cuticles and nails with a cream that contains vitamins A.

What is a better nail repair product? Nail Tek or Nailtiques?

I recently removed my acrylic nails after having them for almost 10 years. I knew that my nails would be soft and weak once the acrylic nails were removed, so I decided to use a nail protein to make them stronger and repair the damage. Definitely Nailtiques! Nail Tek is like a knockoff version, even the label. I have used Nailtiques for a long time it is the only thing that works. Make sure you let you nails breathe, moisturize and massage your cuticles every night. BTW Good for you taking the acrylics off was a good decision! What is a better nail repair product? Good luck- i know its not an easy process but jjust doing these things made my hair a lott healthier and longer.A good vitamins or products I can buy at Walgreens for HAIR and NAILS? To make them grow faster? PLZ HELP!!!?
Hair isn't alive and it doesn't grow. Hair is an accumulation of a protein called keratin inside the follicle. As it builds up on the bottom it is pushed out the top, creating ';hair growth';. This is the same for nails as the are made up of keratin as well. This is a biological process so nothing that you do to your hair, like trimming it or using some ';special'; shampoo can help. Eat a healthy, protein rich diet and take a regular multivitamin daily. Do not take prenatal vitamins, despite what some uneducated people here may say, taking too many vitamins can do serious damage to your organs, and can even cause death. It isn't ';just extra nutrients,'; it is deadly so don't believe it. The only reason that so many people still take them is that it is a long term degradation, you won't notice that they are bad for you until you are on an organ transplant list twenty years from now! Since hair growth is biological it has to do with your diet and genetics, so I can't really tell you how fast it will grow.

I recently saw an infomercial on a battery operated nail file for your pet. What is the name of this product?

If it's for dogs, then yeah it's a dremel, you can get one from www.petedge.com but you should have a groomer teach you how to use it so you don't hurt your pet. Also yeah alot of dogs don't like them, so ask a groomer about how to introduce you pet to the noise and feeling of the grinder.I recently saw an infomercial on a battery operated nail file for your pet. What is the name of this product?
Well I am looking for the same product and it is not a dremel. My husband saw the same infomercial and is kicking my butt for erasing it :( It is something you insert your pets nail into. If I find it, I will come back and post the link for you

There is some stuff called ZetaClear at http://curediseasenaturally.com/ssc/a/zeta that worked for me. Believe me I feel for you. That stuff is bad. Hope this helps. I think they even have a free trial right now. What's the best product for nail fungus?
A prescription from your doctor is the only guaranteed thing to work. You can get a tincture that you brush onto your niles after filing them down, but it can be tricky to keep up with it all the time, so you can take tablets instead, but they have side effects - they can make you feel a bit queasy and anxious sometimes, although when I caught a nail infection once I did not take the tablets every single day (I stopped for a couple of days when the side effects got bad) and they still got rid of the infection.
I tried vinegar....seemed to work slightly, but smelled.

I tried oregano oil. I heard it would work but it smelled so badly that I missed the vinegar smell.

In the end, I opted for the prescription and took it half of the recommended time because of its side effects/ possible side effects.

URGENTWhat product I can use to REMOVE Nail polish from clothes?
I had that same problem, and I tried washing with warm water and putting a bt of nail pollish remover on the stain and it sort of worked. Thats the only thing I know of.

What products can I use on my nails to help them grow?

You can't use anything topical - nails are essentially dead tissue, meaning no blood flow to them directly. This sounds corny, but start with good nutrition and build 'em from the inside out. (Take a multi-vitamin too.) Use a nail hardener polish on them to protect what you have.

Good luck!!What products can I use on my nails to help them grow?
sally hansens hard as nailsWhat products can I use on my nails to help them grow?
Sally Hansen has a product with aloe in it. Your nails usually grow in 5-7 days. I use it a lot... it seems to work pretty good.
you can use a oil named nail grower which helps to grow your nails and also keep your nails clean and colour full
massage them with olive oil and leave it without washing ur hands for 15-30 minutes every two days... u will see results in a month, and apply a good hand cream with glyceren
A lot of good advice here. Knox geletin will certainly help. Also the bit about the olive oil is true...Olive oil can help build strong fingernails and soften cuticles. Before bed, soak your nails in a mixture of lukewarm olive oil and lemon juice. Put on soft cloth gloves and let the oil penetrate overnight. Your nails will gradually become more resistant to breaking and chipping.
my mom told me that rubbing olive oil into your nails and wearing cotton gloves everynight works , also vitamins one calleed biotinand the other is hair skin and nails
    get nail enstenchins
vitamin c, beneficial to everything, and it helps nails grow, nails are nothing more than dead cells, one of the ways the body gets rid of them. thats why they continuously grow, like your hair, vitamin c helps the process
Nail Tek II. It is kind of pricey and I purchased it from a nail salon. You can't buy this product at your local store. It was about $10 for the bottle but lasts. I also heard that taking fish oil vitamins helps also. Good luck.
get geletin it's sold at the grocery store near the rest of the jello I think it's. it's got a picture of a hand and finger nails right on the box! you soak your nails in it! and it really works. or if you want you can drink warm jello it has the same effect but more calories...lol... trust me they both work wonders. it's a secret a lady from my church give me when I asked how she got her hair to grow so long and have such strong health nails!
    hi jennifer,

there's nothing you should use to make you nails grow. all the products available in the market are deceptive. they don't really work as you might want them to..and if they do, then they're definitely harmful

you've got to understand that your body does what you need best. if your nails are growing slowly, then there's nothing wrong with it. chances are that you might need more calcium...milk...

make sure your nails are strong. avoid biting nails if you ever do, trim you nails regularly in a neat consistent style, because that speeds up your nail growth phenomenally.

nail colour looks pretty, but if you have it on constantly, your nails grow real slow..so allow a nail breathing time of a week while you change colours

    remember, always go natural.

dont believe chemicals or even herbal treatments..they're all cheats

eat well, drink plenty of water...i know you've heard this water thing before, but you dont know that we always drink less than what our body needs.

keep your nails trimmed and clean. that'll help best !

    take care
eat a lot of Jello - it really helps
The only stuff I've ever used is clear nail polish by Cover Girl Nail Slicks. The point is to keep your nails covered. It's when air gets to them that they dry out and get cracked and chipped. But, any brand of nail polish will do. Just keep your nail covered with polish. Re-do them every week or so.
Go and see if you can buy Nailtiques in your area, I sell cosmetics for a living, and that's the product that all of my customers swear by.
you can use nutra nail for one you can also eat a lot more keratine which will help not only for you teeth it will also help strengthen you fingernails

I need to fill a couple of small nail holes in the flat w/o painting the whole thing - which product is best?

I am renting a flat and need to fill in 4 small nail holes, so I do get charged to paint the whole wall, any suggestions/product recommendations would help!

ThanksI need to fill a couple of small nail holes in the flat w/o painting the whole thing - which product is best?
Use lightweight spackle. This is available at any hardware store or home center. Depending on the color of the wall, it may need to be repainted anyway, or at least touched up. The spackle is white. Hope this helps.I need to fill a couple of small nail holes in the flat w/o painting the whole thing - which product is best?
If the wall is a flat finish on it use simple lightweight spackling..or I believe you may call it polyfill in the uk...If your walls are a tinted color and not white..or even white with a sheen to the wall(anything other than flat)..it will show a 'flat'; finsihs everywhere the spots filled are...against a sheen on the surface..they may or may not see it on the final walk thru with a slight sheen..but if it is flat..it will be hardly noticeable..unless you smear all around the holes..make sure to dabble it on in little dabs and dont smear it all around the hole..I'm still laughing at the toothpste solution..how long before ants start eating the toothpaste out of the holes..they love the stuff..I have lived in some aopartment units where thier maintnance men use techniques like this..we usually call them ';slumlords'; and not landlords that use these makeshift applications
white toothpaste is a quick fix but just go to a hardware store and by some wall putty (It will be in the paint section) --- it's cheap! I would just apply it with your fingertips becasue you only want to apply a very very small amount and when it is dry wipe it with a damp cloth to smooth it out
if its on drywall and the wall is white just use a little drywall mud and use a very small amount and use a putty knife to apply it
Yes, using spackle, but you are still going to have to paint over the spackle itself.

  • Has anyone tried Petipaw (dog nail filer)? Is it a good product?

I always have trouble cutting my dogs nails and am thinking about buying it.Has anyone tried Petipaw (dog nail filer)? Is it a good product?
Buy yourself a cordless dremel instead, they are a LOT sturdier. I got one like the one in the below link at Wally-world this past fall and it's worked great:

    http://www.amazon.com/Dremel-750-02-Mini鈥?/a>

Use this page as a guide for how to grind your dogs nails instead of clipping them: http://homepages.udayton.edu/~merensjp/d鈥?/a>

Good Luck!Has anyone tried Petipaw (dog nail filer)? Is it a good product?
I have a dremel and have introduced it to my dogs slowly and they will now both allow me to do their nails every week.

    http://www.dremelstore.us/dr76petnagrk.h鈥?/a>

There is also a good guide on how to use and how to introduce it:

    http://www.dremel.com/en-us/customerserv鈥?/a>

Another guid to clipping nails with a guillotine type cutter:

    http://www.vetmed.wsu.edu/ClientED/dog_n鈥?/a>

If you introduce it slowly and begin by just rubbing the dogs feet and getting them used to that you should have less problems.

You need to be strong and not give in if your dog is naughty and doesn't want it done. If you give in, they win and they will always be naughty as they know it will end soon if the do muck up!

Only do a nail or two at a time and give them praise and a treat when they behave well..

Hopefully it won't take long to get them used to the idea, when they do make sure you do it regularly so they don't forget and get used to it.
My grandma's little dog was deathly afraid of it. She gave it to me for me to try on my beagle, but I don't think she will like it either. She Won't even let me bring normal dog nail clippers near her. I have to use human toe-nail clippers and do a little at a time.
its a good product probably if your dog sits still.. my dog HATES even having her paws touched, let alone something cutting her nails.. the only issue you would have is with the dog and not the product.. so it depends on your dog and his/her ability to sit still
not that brand but my dog hates getting his nails filled . but if u hate clipping his nails the vet should do it for you ( my vet charges 4 bucks )
its just a gimmicked up dremel - skip it and buy the dremel

SOME dogs are better with a dremel, some are worse
I can not get my dog to sit still for it..she is afraid of the noise!

    Whats that nail product?

it's a product that you apply daily on your nails and its makes them grow long and strong, but faster.

    Hi There.

    Its called STOPnGROW.

Although there is other similar products out there that do the same thing.

Its does work as i have used it in the past.

    But it washes off easily.

Its retails for around a couple of pounds in any pharmacy or drug store like boots or superdrug.

As an alternative you could get false nails at a salon for around 拢25 which stay on for a month or two depending.

And your nails are instantly long, And when they come off you'll find your nails will have grown underneath.

    Hope this helps.

Ive done my first set on myself and they do look good, but could be better.

Thanks a million to anyone who can help!! :)Im teaching myself to appy gel nails, does anyone have any tips on application, products and suppliers?
ok. here is one tip on gel nails. gel is self leveling. so when you apply it, do it in thin coats. making sure to ';tip'; the nail. that means wrap it around the end, free edge. after you apply the gel, turn your hand over, so that the nails are upside down. facing the floor. now keep them level. leave them that way for a few moments, like 20-30 sec. the gel will level out, and be fuller in the middle of your nail, giving you a nice C curve, a natural nail appearance, and won't be all puddled around your cuticle. you should be using a UV lamp, so make sure to cure each coat of gel 1 minute untill you get to the last coat, and cure for 2 minutes. also, when you apply the gel to y our nails, don't be heavy handed. use light strokes, with the brush level with the nail. if you hold your brush up to high then you push too much on the gel. and don't do your nails right after you got done doing the dishes. your nails will absorb moisture and the gel won't adhere as well. good luckIm teaching myself to appy gel nails, does anyone have any tips on application, products and suppliers?

I wouldnt advise doing them at home, i used to do my own nails before I trained as a nail tech and I thought I was doing ok...I'd scream in horror now if I saw someone doing what I used to do. The kits for using at home just dont cover everything in enough detail.

you can purchase a gel nails kit on eBay for around $45, which may include a curing light. Don't be put off by the light, it seals the gel, and only emits a harmless amount of UV rays while your fingers are underneath.

The best way to learn to apply them is to watch videos on youtube ';apply gel nails'; search, or go to www.creativenails.com where they have detailed step by steps. It's simple, and can even be used on toenails in summer to prvent having to reapply paint every few days.Gel nails, what's the procedure and products, how could I do them myself at home?

vitamin e ive been told works well. plus your skin and hair will benefit as well
Either go to a Rite Aid in nail polish, get NYC harding or do what my guitar teacher did: put fiber glass on it!
Gelatin will strengthen your nails. Start eating jello and you will tell a great difference.
Apply Petroleum Jelly at the night time and keep it for whole night. Make sure that air supply is sufficient to your nails.

Use Pure paraffin( we call it as wax) mixed with some moisturiser cream/lotion. You can get the paraffin in hardware shop. Definitely it will work.

theres a lot of nail polish that has calcium thats what u need.. just go to wal-mart..or any other store.
I dont think ';products'; really work. And if they do, it is temporary. It seems like you lack calcium and possible protein. Try dipping your nails in raw egg once a week and increase calcium, whether it be by milk or vitamins. Check out this site...
