Are you sure it's not dandruff??? If it really is product buildup the only way to get rid of it is the obvious answer: shampoo!!! Look for any shampoo that says ';purifying'; in the name or description. Definitely start using less product in your hair, and if you use a wax or a gel make sure they are water soluble so it's easier to remove when showering. Hope this helps!EW! A lot of people do not realize there are two kinds of dandruff, the dry kind and the greasy kind. The greasy kind seems kinda scabby. Which is probably what you have. Shampoo everyday with selsun blue or get a clarifying shampoo.
You might want to check for head lice. This link might help.

you need a good clarifying shampoo and or treatment from your local salon. it will remove all the build up!!
wash it more often. and when you wash your hair with shapmoo scrub your scalp very good! :) also dont run your fingers through your hair a lot. becuase if you do like every 5 minutes (like me lol) then your hair tends to get more greasy/dirty.
